GDP up by 0.4 pct both in eurozone, EU in Q2: Eurostat

Seasonally-adjusted GDP rose by 0.4 percent in the eurozone during the second quarter of 2015 over the previous quarter, according to a second estimate published Tuesday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU).

Similarly, seasonally-adjusted GDP rose by 0.4 percent in the 28-member EU during the same period.

In the first quarter of 2015, GDP grew by 0.5 percent in both eurozone and the EU.

Moreover, in the second quarter of 2015, GDP rose by 1.5 percent in the eurozone and by 1.9 percent in the EU, compared with the same quarter of the previous year.

Among the member states, GDP increased in all EU countries except France, where it remained stable. The highest growth compared with the previous quarter was recorded in Latvia at 1.2 percent and Malta at 1.1 percent, while lowest growth rates were registered in the Netherlands, Austria and Romania, all at 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, Greece GDP grew 0.9 percent during the second quarter of 2015, according to Eurostat. Endit
