Tokyo stocks rise 0.38 pct in choppy trading

Tokyo stocks rose 0.38 percent on Monday, with investors remaining uncertain about the U.S. monetary policy outlook.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 68.31 points, or 0.38 percent, from Friday at 17,860.47. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.12 points, or 0.08 percent, higher at 1,445.65.

Gainers were led by warehousing, transport equipment, and agriculture and fishery issues.

The turnover was 2,354.83 billion yen (about 19.71 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
