Pakistani snooker team on Sunday left for Thailand to feature in the upcoming 6-Red World Championship to be held in Bangkok, officials said.
An official from the Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA) said on Sunday that Pakistan's three cueists will participate in the event scheduled from Sept. 7 to 12.
The International Billiard and Snooker Federation (IBSF) nominated three Pakistani players Muhammad Asif, Asjad Iqbal and Muhammad Sajjad for the event.
"Asif and Asjad have been nominated by virtue of being the current semifinalist of IBSF 6-Red and Team World Championship, while Sajjad has been nominated by the IBSF for being the runner- up of the World Championship 2014," the official said.
The 6-Red World Championship has been a regular fixture on the IBSF annual calendar since 2012.
Only six reds are used in this invitational event instead of the traditional 15 red ball, however rules are the same.
Sajjad has been included in Group B along with John Higgins ( Scotland), Matthew Selt (England), Anthony McGill (Scotland), Yuan Sijun (China) and Boonyarit Keattikul (Thailand) while Asif is placed in Group C with Judd Trump (England), Michael White (Wales), Kristjan Helgason (Iceland), Ahmed Galal (Egypt) and Noppadon Noppachorn (Thailand).
Pakistan's senior player Iqbal is in Group F along with Joe Perry (England), Robert Milkins (England), Matthew Stevens (Wales), Rory Thor (Malaysia) and Ratchapol Pu (Thailand). Endi
