Iraqi security forces foiled an attack Sunday by Islamic State (IS) militants against the city of Tikrit, killing five IS militants, a provincial security source said.
The attacks occurred at dawn as dozens of IS militants attacked from the west of the city, 170 km north of of Baghdad, sparking heavy clashes with security forces and allied militias, or "Hashd Shaabi," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-IS)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Four more bodies were found late Sunday in the waters off the west coast of Malaysia, bringing the death toll of victims in the boat capsizal last week to 61, according to Bernama, Malaysia's state news agency.
It quoted local police chief as saying that all the bodies were found at around 5 p.m. about eight nautical miles from the scene of the incident by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) with the assistance of local fishermen. (Malaysia-Death Toll)

NICOSIA -- Cypriot authorities rescued 114 Syrian refugees, including 30 children and five infants, in a fishing boat drifting off the shores of Cyprus, the authorities said on Sunday.
The refugees fled their homeland due to the lingering civil war and drifted 40 nautical miles (74 kilometers) off the shores of the eastern Mediterranean island. (Cyprus-Syrian-Refugees)

DAKAR -- A medical evacuation plane disappeared west of Senegal during a flight from Burkina Faso to Dakar, Senegalese civil aviation authority said in a statement on Sunday.
