Chinese religious circles mark war anniversary

Religious circles in China on Friday held praying and various activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
These commemorations were proposed by the China Committee on Religion and Peace and echoed by the circles of five major religions in China -- Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Protestantism and Catholicism.
The committee also issued a peace proclamation, expressing Chinese religious circles' will to remember history, honor war heroes and join the religious people around the globe in maintaining the world's lasting peace.
Buddhists and Taoists from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan on Friday held respective praying ceremonies in Beijing to convey their blessings for the peace of China and the world.
