At least 18 killed in Mali boat accident

At least 18 people were killed after a boat carrying over 100 passengers capsized Wednesday on a river in central Mali, local authorities said.

According to a statement issued by the Malian government, the accident occurred on Wednesday morning, but it did not say what caused the tragedy.

Local media said search and rescue operation are underway, adding that over 70 people have been rescued and the death toll is likely to rise. Endit
