Croatian gov't supports FM's candidacy for UN secretary general

Croatian government's session on Thursday officially supported its Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic's candidacy for UN Secretary General.

Pusic, also the first deputy prime minister of Croatia, confirmed the news and said she hoped Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic would support her.

Within one year the UN would make the decision on the new secretary general, the term of the current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will expire in December 2016.

Candidates for secretary general are proposed by the UN Security Council and elected by the UN General Assembly. Endit
