More than 7,000 books containing provincial, municipal and county-level annals have been released in the last six years, according to a statement released by the General Office of the State Council.
Meanwhile, more than 20,000 annals on industry, military and townships have also been produced, the statement said.
It said local authorities have made great achievements in the compilation of local chronicles. Their efforts have enriched the culture of local annals and helped enhance the nation's soft power.
In order to further boost the development of local annals, the office unveiled an outline for better guidance.
By the end of 2020, comprehensive local almanacs will be worked out by all provincial, municipal and county-level governments, according to the outline.
