Zambia international striker Emmanuel Mayuka has described his move to French Ligue 2 side FC Metz as a new beginning for his career, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.

On Monday, the 24-year-old striker signed a three-year contract with the French side from English premier side Southampton.

"I just signed in France for Metz for three years. I am happy with the move. For me it is a new beginning. I had a good time in Southampton but now it's time for a new chapter in my life. It is another new challenge and I thank God for it," the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations golden boot winner was quoted as saying by the paper.

He said moving to France was a new beginning for him and that he would utilize the opportunity to enhance his career.

Mayuka joined Southampton from Swiss outfit Young Boys in August 2012 on a five-year deal. He however failed to impress and only made 16 league appearances scoring once in the Capital One match.

He was loaned to French side Sochaux in the 2013-2014 season. He also had a stint with Israel side Maccabi Tel Aviv where he spent two years before moving to Switzerland where he spent another two years at Young Boys.

The striker has been left out of Sunday's 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya. Endit
