Austrian railway authority preparing for more asylum seekers

The Austrian Federal Railways (OeBB) are preparing for more trains arriving from Hungary carrying asylum seekers, its CEO Christian Kern said Wednesday.
Speaking to the APA in an interview, Kern said the OeBB is communicating with both Hungarian and German rail authorities to make sure an "organized procedure" is established.
He also said extremes of both denying access to trains and letting everybody on must be avoided and an acceptable middle road should be found, and that even if denied access, the asylum seekers would simply find another means to travel where they want.
The situation with asylum seekers coming into Austria appears to have quietened significantly Wednesday, the OeBB said separately, with the approximate 200 persons staying at Austrian railway stations overnight into Wednesday far fewer than the several thousand on Monday evening.
Only 50 to 60 had been recorded as arriving Wednesday morning, though others were reported to have stayed on trains heading onward to Germany. Endit
