Tusk says EU has to do more on migrant crisis

Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Visiting President of the European Council Donald Tusk on Tuesday said the migrant crisis was one of Europe's challenges and a common response in the European level was needed.

The European Union (EU) needs to respond in the spirit of solidarity and responsibility and has to do more, Tusk said after meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic.

Tusk said he was looking forward to cooperation with Croatia on the issue, adding he discussed with Milanovic ways to support countries facing an influx of migrants.

He confirmed that Milanovic reassured him that Croatia was ready to implement an EU response on the crisis.

Interior ministers of EU countries will meet mid-September for an extraordinary summit to discuss the next steps to deal with the crisis, Tusk said. Endit
