August car sales jump 10 pct in France

Car manufacturers sold 10 percent more new vehicles in August compared to the same month in 2014 on surge of French-made brands sales, the French car sales federation CCFA said Tuesday.
New car sales stood at 92,052 units with French brands growing by 9.7 percent over the period on reported sharp rise in sales of PSA Peugeot Citroen, France's largest auto maker, according to CCFA's statement.
At the end of August, PSA sold 26,692 vehicles, up by 15.2 percent compared to same month a year earlier while Renault sold 20,234 new cars against 19,553 sold in August 2014.
Sales of cars of foreign brands also gained momentum after increasing by 10.2 percent, according to the report.
Following last month's boosted sales, the CCFA said it is to revise up its forecast for 2015, initially set at 2 percent. Endit
