Female suspect in Bangkok bombings contacts Thai authorities

A female suspect in recent Bangkok bombings has contacted the Thai authorities to provide testimony, a spokesman of the National Council of Peace and Order said Tuesday.

Wanna Suansan, a Thai national who is facing an arrest warrant, is now residing in another country and has contacted the authorities, the spokesman, Winthai Suwaree, told a press briefing.

The court has so far issued arrest warrants for four suspects, including a man in yellow shirt who may have been involved in the Aug. 17 blast at Erawan Shrine, and a man in blue shirt who may be related to a bombing at the Sathorn pier on the following day, Winthai said.

The Erawan Shrine incident killed at least 20 people and injured more than 120 others, while the Sathorn pier incident caused no casualties.

A third man facing an arrest warrant has been seen to have stayed in a rented room in Bangkok's Min Buri area, whose portrait has been sketched and publicized.

Officials found explosive components and equipment in the man's rented room, which is one of several rooms in Min Buri that Wanna has signed rental contracts for, according to Winthai.

Currently, police and related security authorities are interrogating a suspect apprehended in Bangkok's Nong Chok district on Saturday, Winthai said, adding the result has proven to be greatly beneficial to the interrogation and leading to the apprehension of additional suspects.

Moreover, information from witness interrogation and forensic evidence that now exists has helped expedite the authorities' process, he said, stressing the authorities will only publicize validated information to the public to ensure correct understanding. Endi
