Tokyo stocks open lower in early trading amid soft domestic factory data

Xinhua, August 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower in early trading Monday as investor sentiment was dented by weaker- than-expected Japan's industrial output data of July.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 206. 98 points, or 1.08 percent, from Friday to 18,929.34. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 17.72 points, or 1.14 percent, at 1,532.08.

Decliners were led by iron and steel, real estate and nonferrous metals issues. Endi
