4 people slain in anti-drug raids in S. Philippines

Four suspected drug peddlers were killed in an anti-illegal drugs operation in southern Philippines on Saturday, local police said.

Several suspects were also arrested and an undetermined quantity of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu were seized in simultaneous operations at several locations in Davao del Norte province around 5 a.m. local time, said Samuel Gadingan, the provincial police chief.

Gadingan said two suspects died in a shootout with police and anti-narcotics agents in Tagum City, the provincial capital, while two others were slain while resisting arrest in the towns of Asuncion and Sto. Tomas.

Police also confiscated high-powered weapons during the raids. Endi
