Canada opens trade office in Hangzhou

The Canadian government has opened a trade office in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province, eyeing high-tech cooperation with Chinese firms.

Guy Saint-Jacques, Canadian ambassador to China, said on Friday that the new office, along with other trade offices, will help promote Canada's trade with and investment in China.

Hangzhou is home to many successful private companies including Alibaba.It is also a center for entrepreneurship and high technology, he said.

China is Canada's second largest trade partner. Canada has nine other trade offices in cities including Chengdu, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenyang, Shenzhen and Wuhan. Endi
