Macao to hold commemorative events marking V-Day

China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government will hold a series of events from September to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, according to a press conference held by Office of the Chief Executive Friday.
Macao SAR government will hold a commemorative ceremony on Sept. 3 at Tap Seac Square, which includes flag raising, playing and singing of the national anthem, wreath laying and silence tribute. Local TV channel will have a live broadcast.
An exhibition with the theme of commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War will be unveiled on Sept. 1 at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao.
The exhibition, which lasts until Oct. 4, will display about 210 photos and 80 cultural relics spanning the period of Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, to show the history of Chinese people's resistance against Japanese aggression, including Macao people's life during the wartime and their efforts to help save the country.
There will also be guided tours provided by the Cultural Affairs Bureau from Sept. 5 to 31, aiming to present more knowledge of the exhibition.
Four symposiums will be held at every Saturday of September to present the profound studies of the war history.
The series of events aim at reviewing history and enhancing the knowledge of the people, especially the younger generation, so as to cherish peace, said the SAR government spokesperson Chan Chi Ping at the press conference. Endi
