Myanmar's parliament adjourns ahead of election

Myanmar's Union Parliament Friday announced adjournment of its sessions to make way for the upcoming general election scheduled for November 8.
Speaker of the parliament U Shwe Mann, at a closing session, urged maintenance of stability in the pre- and post-election period, calling on contesting parties and candidates to abide by codes of conduct.
According to him, 50-60 percent of the current parliamentarians will run in the upcoming election.
Parliamentarian U Khine Maung Yi told Xinhua that some remaining bills are to be dealt with when the session resumes after the election.
The present term of the legislative body will last until Jan. 31, 2016, after which a new parliament will be produced through the November election.
The House of Nationalities (Upper House) adjourned on Aug. 19, and the House of Representatives (Lower House ) on Aug. 27. Endi
