"I would like to coach," says Argentine star Mascherano

Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano, currently player of Spain's Barcelona, said he would like to coach when he retires, local press reported Wednesday.

In an interview held with a local radio station, Mascherano said "I would like to coach. Today, as player, I see things are easier, but it is more complicated when you are on the other side. I want to teach all that I have learned, football is like a wheel."

Macherano plays defender position in Barcelona though his position in Argentina's national team is central midfielder.

"I have never refused to change my position. If the coach is confident on that, and especially if he convinces me, it is ok," he said.

The Argentine star said that when he arrived in Barcelona he "had nothing to lose" when the then coach, Pep Guardiola, told him to play as defender.

Mascherano added "I knew I was going to be substitute player and it would be difficult to become starting player. Naturally, I was going to fight for it but one of the best players in the world played in my position. But over time I won my place," he said. Endi
