Uganda names squad ahead of AFCON qualifier away to Comoros

Uganda's head coach on Wednesday named a squad that will face Comoros in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier scheduled on Sept. 5.

"This match we are going to play against Comoros is not for gaining experience but to get results," Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic told Xinhua about the seriousness of the away tie.

Uganda together with Burkina Faso currently lead Group D of the qualifiers after winning their opening matches by 2-0 margins. Uganda beat Botswana, while Burkina Faso humbled Comoros.

Foreign based players, Yasser Mugerwa who officially joined South Africa's Orlando Pirates early this week together with Vietnam based players Geoffrey Kizito and Moses Oloya have been invited. William Kizito Luwagga who joined Portugese top Premier League side Rio Ave two months ago is also expected to link up with the team early next week.

The coach however said although he has summoned the squad, he will only be sure if all the players will be present by this weekend.
