Rwanda have won the ninth edition of the East African Community Military Games that concluded on Wednesday.

The Rwanda team won golds in football, handball and basketball out of the five events.

The Games that attracted 450 athletes ran under the theme 'One People, One Destiny'.

"I appeal to all member nations to continue supporting these Games because they bring the military together," said Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces Katumba Wamala.

Wamala was speaking at the closing ceremony held at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, about 15 km east of the capital Kampala.

Rwanda finished top in football with seven points while the defending champions Kenya and Uganda ended on six points each after they played to a goalless draw on Wednesday.

Kenya who topped the edition last year won the men's and women's cross country events while the hosts Uganda were superior in netball.

Uganda's Robert Omunuk finished as top scorer in football with 3 goals, while his teammate Musa Mudde was voted the Most Valuable Player.

The Games that started on Aug. 16, attracted hosts Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and Kenya.
