Xi's remarks on governance at county level published

Xinhua, August 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

A compilation of selected remarks by Chinese President Xi Jinping on how to be a qualified head of county-level Communist Party committee has been published.

The book, published by the Central Party Literature Press, contains six speeches or lectures by Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, including the address given while meeting with 102 outstanding county-level Party chiefs in June.

All the articles in the book are published for the first time.

Xi said that in the Party's organizational structure and the country's regime structure, the county is a key part that links higher and lower levels as well as a significant foundation for economic development, people's livelihoods and social stability.

"A county-level Party committee is a frontline headquarters for the CPC's governance, and a Party secretary is the commander in chief," he added.

Xi has urged county-level Party secretaries nationwide to learn from the spirit of Jiao Yulu, who has been held as a role model of grassroots officials for almost half a century, and who "always bears in mind the Party, the people, responsibility and caution." Endi
