Vietnam to see fall in agro-forestry-fishery exports

Vietnam is forecast to see a nearly 5-percent fall year-on-year in export value of agro-forestry- fishery in the first eight months of 2015, according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Wednesday.

Specifically, during the eight-month period, the country is estimated to earn some 19.31 billion U.S. dollars from exports of agro-forestry-fishery products, down 4.8 percent compared to the same period in 2014, the ministry said in a monthly statistical report on its website.

Export revenues of agricultural and fishery sector are likely to decrease by 7.7 percent and 17.5 percent year-on-year, while that of forestry is expected to increase by 8.2 percent, said the ministry.

Plunges in export revenues of major exported agricultural products contributed to the total fall, including rice (down 13.1 percent), coffee (down 33.1 percent), rubber (down 10.2 percent) and tea (down 4.8 percent), among others. Endi
