Alves cut from Brazil squad for friendlies

Xinhua, August 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Dani Alves has been cut from Brazil's squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and the USA next month due to injury, the country's football federation (CBF) said on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old has been replaced in Dunga's squad by Monaco right-back Fabinho, the CBF said on its official website.

Alves suffered an adductor injury during Barcelona's 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the opening round of Spain's La Liga season on Sunday.

Brazil will meet Costa Rica in New Jersey on September 5 followed by a clash against the USA in Foxborough, Massachusetts, three days later.

Fabinho, 21, has been capped twice for Brazil, having made his international debut in the Selecao's 2-0 friendly victory over Mexico in June. Endi
