University of Macao's 10 research projects receive NSFC grants

The University of Macao's (UM) Zhuhai Research Institute will receive the amount of 4 million yuan scientific research fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 10 research projects, according to the results of grants application for the year 2015 released recently by the Foundation.

UM submitted a total of 38 funding applications to the NSFC this year. It is encouraging news that over 26 percent of them have been approved.

Among the 10 funded research projects, five have been selected as the year's General Programs. The other five projects stood out in the category which the NSFC has established specially for young scholars under the age of 35.

Founded in 1986, NSFC is a major funding source focusing on basic scientific research and frontier scientific exploration. It has funded 37,606 programs with an investment of 18.35 billion yuan (2.87 billion U.S. dollars) so far this year, accounting for 80.2 percent of this year's funding plan. Endi
