Fire engulfs garment factory in Cambodia

Xinhua, August 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

A strong fire engulfed a garment factory in Sen Sok district in the outskirts of the capital Monday night, without reports of casualties, said a firefighting police chief.

The incident occurred at 7 p.m. local time at Xing High Feng Garment (Cambodia), which is run by investors from China's Taiwan, Phnom Penh municipal firefighting police chief Prum Yot said.

"We used 23 fire trucks to put out the flames in nearly two hours," he told Xinhua. "No one was injured in the fire."

He said electric fault was likely the cause of the fire, and the cost of damage from the blaze has not been estimated yet.

The factory has some 350 workers, but the incident took place when workers were off-duty, said the official. Endi
