Myanmar appoints defense chief, border affairs minister

The Myanmar government on Monday appointed Lt. Gen. Sein Win as new Defense Minister and Lt. Gen. Kyaw Swe as Border Affairs Minister, according to an order of the President's Office.

The two new ministers are assigned as to fill the vacancies left by Lt. Gen. Wai Lwin and Lt. Gen. Thet Naing Win respectively.

The two former ministers are expected to retire from the military and take part in the election as civilians to seek parliamentary seats according to the constitution. Endi
