Nepal, India sign petroleum pipeline deal

Nepal and India inked the much awaited petroleum-pipeline deal on Monday, initiating the construction of the 41-km pipeline.

The agreement was signed between Indian Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and Nepalese Minister for Commerce and Supplies Sunil Bahadur Thapa in Kathmandu.

"This is a historic moment for both the nations as this project will have mutual benefits for both the nations and people, " Pradhan said after the signing ceremony.

The pipeline, that will run 39 km in the Indian territory and 2 km on the Nepalese side, is expected to be completed within 30 months. Endi
