China confirms participation in EXPO 2017 in Kazakhstan

Xinhua, August 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

China on Monday confirmed it will participate in Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, kicking off the country's preparation work for the event.

China will display its energy development and promote communications with participating countries, said Jiang Zengwei, head of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), who submitted the confirmation documents to Kazakh First Deputy Foreign Minister Rapil Zhoshybayev on Monday.

China's participation in Expo 2017 will also deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in economy, security and humanities, and further push forward the China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership, Jiang said.

Zhoshybayev, who is also the Expo 2017 government representative, said Kazakhstan attaches great importance to China's participation and hopes the three-month event will comprehensively deepen communications and cooperation of governments and companies of both countries in many sectors, including energy.

Astana was chosen by the International Exhibitions Bureau as the venue to host Expo 2017, which will focus on the theme "Future Energy." More than 100 countries and 10 international organizations will participate in the event with the number of visitors expected to reach five million.

Entrusted by the State Council, CCPIT is responsible for the organization and coordination of China's participation in World Expo. Endi
