2 soldiers killed in PKK attack in SE Turkey

Xinhua, August 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two members of Turkish security forces were killed and three others injured on Monday in southeastern Turkey by outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK), state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

A convoy of soldiers was attacked by PKK militants near Tekeli village in Semdinli, a town in Hakkari province, according to the report.

The attack came one day after a gendarmerie sergeant was killed in a PKK attack on security guards at a hydroelectric plant in southeastern Diyarbakir province on Sunday.

More than 60 Turkish security forces have been killed in PKK attacks in eastern and southeastern Turkey since July.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed last Tuesday to continue military operations against the PKK until it's disarmed.

"We will persevere in our struggle until they lay down and bury their arms, and until the last terrorist leaves the country," Erdogan said. Endit
