Morocco, Algeria dominate African Confederation Boxing Championships

Morocco and Algeria dominated African Confederation Boxing Championships which closed late Sunday, wining 9 out of the 10 gold medals on offer.
Moroccan boxers grabbed 8 medals, 5 of which are gold, securing the top place for their country, whereas Algerians won 7 medals, 4 of which are gold, ending 2nd in the championships.
Egypt got 4 medals, including one gold medal, placing 3rd in the competition that was held in the Moroccan city of Casablanca on August 19-23.
Following these continental championships, 40 boxers booked their tickets for the world championships set for October in Qatar. Among these boxers, there are 8 Moroccans, 7 Algerians, 5 Tunisians and Ugandans each, 4 Egyptians, Botswanans and Ghanaians apiece.
Mauritius, Seychelles and Togo will each be represented by one boxer in the world championships.
The competition, which also served as the first round of qualifiers on the road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, brought together more than a hundred boxers from 19 African nations. Endi
