At least six people were killed and 20 others were injured when a truck hit a coach of train in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh early on Monday, said local TV reports.

Among the dead was a local lawmaker from the southern state of Karnataka, said local TV company ANI.

The driver of the granite-laden truck lost control and hit a coach of Nanded Express at a level crossing in Anantpur district of the state, killing five passengers travelling in the train and the truck driver.

The impact of the collision was so strong that two coaches of the train derailed. Railway officials and local police launched rescue work. Endi
