Leverkusen' s new arrival Aranguiz suffers injury blow

Xinhua, August 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bayer Leverkusen' s new arrival Charles Aranguiz will be sidelined for the rest of the year after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture, the "Werkself" confirmed in an official statement on Friday.

What a huge setback for Leverkusen and their new arrival Aranguiz, who just had joined the German outfit from Internacional Porto Alegre eight days ago. The offensive midfielder sustained an Achilles tendon rupture in his left foot during a training session on Thursday.

According to the statement on Leverkusen' s official homepage the club assumes that Aranguiz will be sidelined for "many months" . The new arrival will undergo a surgery on Tuesday in Basel, where specialist Bernhard Segesser will operate him.

"We are all very concerned, and of course we suffer with him. Charles was really looking forward to his first Bundesliga appearance in Hannover. We will do everything to ensure that Charles can return to the pitch as soon as possible after this serious injury," Leverkusen' s sporting director Rudi Voeller said.

Leverkusen face Hannover for the second round in Bundesliga on Saturday. Endi
