Tokyo shares open slightly higher

Tokyo shares opened slightly higher Tuesday as there were little cues to boost trade sentiment here after weak economic data released in the previous day.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 9.09 points, or 0.04 percent, from Monday to 20,629.35.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.22 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,673. 09. Endi
