Four members of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in clashes with government security forces in eastern Turkey late Sunday, a military statement said on Monday.
The clashes happened in Varto town of Mus province, said the statement released by the Turkish General Staff.
Tensions between Turkish security forces and the PKK have been mounting following an Islamic State (IS) suicide bombing on July 20 that killed 32 and wounded 104 others in the town of Suruc in the Sanliurfa province bordering Syria.
According to a statement by the Turkish prime minister's office, Turkish security forces have detained over 1,300 individuals with suspected ties to the IS, the PKK and leftist groups, and that the military has conducted several rounds of airstrikes on PKK posts in northern Iraq. Endit
