Earthquake strikes Australian eastern coast
Xinhua, August 14, 2015 Adjust font size:
A magnitude-4 earthquake has shocked Australia's eastern coast on Friday, approximately 200 kilometers north of Brisbane.
A Geoscience Australia spokeswoman told Xinhua on Friday the quake rumbled between Harvey Bay and Noosa on Queensland's southeastern coast just after 11 a.m. on Friday.
The quake comes almost two weeks after a series of tremors -- the largest a magnitude 5.3 -- that rattled the state in late July causing localized damage, falling just short of Australia's record of magnitude 5.7 and 6.0 in 1918.
Local media is reporting there is no associated damage from Friday's event.
Authorities are treating the tremor as an aftershock to July's events.
