Vancouver police shut down pot shop with alleged links to crime group

Xinhua, August 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police in Vancouver in west Canada said on Thursday that they raided a marijuana shop in east Vancouver Wednesday night after investigators alleged it had ties to a crime group.

According to the police statement, a store employee was arrested and released later at the scene while police searched the marijuana store.

The statement said the police watched the store for about a month after receiving information that the store had links to an organized crime group.

Investigators also alleged marijuana was being sold to the youth in the area, as well as to those without a valid license.

Police spokesperson Sgt. Randy Fincham said police have executed 11 search warrants on illegal marijuana stores throughout Vancouver, and would continue to respond to residents' concerns and take enforcement action if required.

Fincham said the police have been hunting for violent drug traffickers and those who jeopardize the safety of young or vulnerable residents. Endi
