Namibia targets top 10 finish at All Africa Games

Xinhua, August 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Namibia is targeting a top 10 finish at the 2015 All Africa Games due in Brazzaville, Congo on Sept. 4-19.

Roger Kambatuku, the Namibia delegation head and a Senior Sports officer in the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service, told national news agency Nampa on Thursday, "We have a great team of talented and quality athletes who can rise to the occasion on any day. We are aiming for a top 10 finish and anything higher will be great."

Namibia will send a 79-member delegation and reports suggest that the southern African country will have more boxers than any other athletes as boxing has always been the country's strongest code.

Other codes that will represent Namibia at Africa's biggest sporting event include cycling, athletics, table tennis, power lifting, tennis, karate and wrestling.

Namibia finished 19th at the 2011 All Africa Games held in Maputo, Mozambique with one gold, one silver and five bronze medals. Endi
