Four Latin American teams into FIVB Girls' U18 round of 16

Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru advanced to round of 16 in the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) Girls' U18 World Championship here, sports media reported Wednesday.

The group phase ended on Tuesday and according to Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, in Group A Peru won 3-1 against Chinese Taipei (22-25, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-23) and Egypt defeated 3-2 Mexico (28-26, 24-26, 17-25, 26-24, 17-15).

Meanwhile, in Group B Germany defeated Serbia (26-24, 25-21 and 25-21) and China beat Poland (25-17, 30-28 and 25-17).

In Group C Russia defeated 3-0 Dominican Republic (25-13, 25-19 and 25-19), while United States defeated Belgium (25-17, 25-23 and 25-19).

Group D closed with the victory of Brazil over Cuba (25-15, 25-8 and 25-17) and of Italy against Japan (25-22, 25-20 and 35-33).

Next Thursday in round of 16, Mexico will face Germany, Argentina will play against Italy, as well as China-Egypt, Belgium-Turkey, Serbia-South Korea, Brazil-United States, Japan-Russia and Peru-Poland. Endi
