Myanmar presidential spokesman U Ye Htut said on Thursday that President U Thein Sein is holding a ruling party emergency meeting this morning, to handle some urgent issues within the party.

U Ye Htut, who is also information minister, told Xinhua that an incident happened within the ruling party - the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) on Wednesday night, adding that it was the party's internal affairs and declining to comment.

Government's security forces have taken security measures around the USDP's headquarters in the capital, with a dozen of military and police trucks patrolling around the organization's venue since Wednesday night.

Entry into the headquarters has been sealed for security.

The move came following a meeting at the headquarters on Wednesday morning, welcoming the party candidates nominated to run in the upcoming general election. Endi
