Tokyo shares open mixed on Chinese yuan's change

Tokyo shares opened mixed Thursday as investors' sentiment was still weighed by the exchange rate change of the Chinese yuan.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 79.79 points, or 0.39 percent, from Wednesday to 20,472.56.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, however, inched down 1.31 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,664.44. Endi
