Japanese car maker Subaru will recall 74,036 vehicles on the Chinese mainland due to flaws with the engine control setting, China's quality watchdog announced on Wednesday.
Starting on Aug. 28, 2015, the company will recall 49,056 imported 2013-2014 Foresters and 24,980 imported 2012-2014 Subaru XVs, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
The 2013-2014 Forester models were produced between Oct. 24, 2012 and May 10, 2014, and the 2012-2014 Subaru XV models were produced between Aug. 23, 2011 and Dec. 27, 2013, said AQSIQ in a statement.
The statement said that the flaw could cause abnormal functioning of the fuse and engine failure, posing risks to safety.
It added the company will replace the defective parts free of charge to minimize risks. Endit
