Palestinian man seriously wounded in last week's arson attack dies

Xinhua, August 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Palestinian man, seriously wounded in last week's deadly West Bank arson attack by suspected Jewish extremists, died of his wounds early Saturday morning.

Saad Dawabsheh suffered burns to 80 percent of his body and was fighting for his life for more than a week at a hospital in Beer Sheva, southern Israel, before succumbing to his wounds, local media reported.

Dawabsheh's death brought the death toll from the arson attack to two. His 18-month-old son was killed on July 31 when alleged Jewish settlers threw firebombs into their house in the Palestinian village of Duma.

Dawabsheh's wife and 4-year-old boy, who were also seriously wounded in the attack, were still fighting for their lives in Israeli hospitals.

The arson attack, which was labeled as Jewish terror by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top Israeli officials, is still under investigation by the Israeli intelligence service.

The incident has triggered protests across the Palestinian communities in the West Bank, with at least two Palestinian youths killed in clashes with Israeli security forces in the past week. Endi
