Brazil's Internacional sack coach

Xinhua, August 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three-time Brazilian Serie A champions Internacional have fired Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre after a poor run of results, the club said on Thursday.

The announcement follows Internacional's 0-0 home draw with Chapecoense on Sunday, a result that left the club 10th in the 20-team standings.

"[We] confirm that Diego Aguirre and his staff have left the club," Internacional said in a brief statement on their website.

The Porto Alegre outfit will be led on an interim basis by Odair Hellman.

Aguirre, whose career as a player included spells at Olympiacos and River Plate, took charge of Internacional in January, leading the club to 24 wins, 15 draws and nine losses. Endi
