Dortmund crush Wolfsberg 5-0 to book UEFA Europa League play-off ticket

Xinhua, August 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Dortmund staged a relentless second half to sink Austrian outfit Wolfsberg 5-0 at the second leg of UEFA Europa League qualification on Thursday.

Borussia Dortmund sealed the Europa League play-offs following a 6-0 victory on aggregate over Wolfsberg. The "BVB" dominated the encounter but had to wait after the break to score five goals. Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan had larges shares on the win as he provided a hat rick within 13 minutes.

Thomas Tuchel men dictated the pace on the pitch but yet they had to wait after the restart to break the deadlock as Wolfsberg's keeper Alexander Kofler was on guard several times.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock and rewarded their performance after the interval when Marco Reus made use of Henrikh Mkhitaryan's square pass three minutes into the second half.

The opener gave the hosts momentum as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead following a through ball by Ilkay Guendogan at the 64th minute. However, Dortmund were not done with the scoring as Mkhitaryan had an ace in the hole. The Armenian international killed the game single handed with a hat rick within 13 minutes to destroy all hopes of a comeback by the Austrian visitors.

With the result, Borussia Dortmund booked their ticket for the Europa League play-offs. Endi
