Yamaguchi's equalizer earns Japan point at East Asian Cup

Hotaru Yamaguchi opened his national team account and earned defending champion Japan their first point after a 1-1 draw against South Korea here on Wednesday at the EAFF East Asian Cup.

Japan, who was stunned 1-2 by DPR Korea on Monday, leveled the score six minutes before halftime. Yamaguchi took a square pass from Shu Kurata and rammed a shot past South Korea goalkeeper Kim Seung-Gyu.

South Korea took the lead on 27th minutes as Jang Hyun-Soo fired in front from the penalty spot.

Japan now have one point while South Korea, who took a 2-0 win over China, have four points after two games at the four-team round-robin tournament in Wuhan, China.

Japan will play against host China on Sunday. Endi
