Kenyan police arrest 6 terror suspects in Mombasa

Xinhua, August 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Kenyan police on Friday arrested six terror suspects in the coastal city of Mombasa.

The suspects were later brought before a Mombasa court on charges of alleged links with Somalia-based militant group Al-Shabaab.

Investigative officer Charles Mwai told the court that they believed one of the suspects, Sahara Hussein, recruited the other five suspects, who are all from Somalia, to join Al-Shabaab, adding that probes were underway.

Mombasa Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo ordered the suspects to be remanded until Aug. 7 when their case will come up for mention.

Kenyan soldiers have intensified manhunt for Al-Shabaab militants who escaped after a foiled attack in Basuba, Lamu, on Wednesday.

Three of the members were killed during the attack. Enditem
