China jails military officer for embezzlement

Xinhua, July 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

China has sentenced a senior military official to 10 years in prison for embezzlement, according to a statement issued by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Friday.

Zhang Daixin served as deputy commander of northeast China's Heilongjiang provincial military area command before his fall.

The statement also said that Wang Xin, former political commissar of the traffic unit of the Chinese People's Armed Police, is being investigated for suspected "serious disciplinary violations." Wang's case has been transferred to military prosecuting authorities, it said.

The PLA disclosed no further details on the cases. Endi
