Xinhua, July 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

French households consumption of manufactured products grew by 0.4 percent in June mainly due to boosted sales of foods, French national statistics institute Insee said on Friday.

However in the second quarter, consumer's expenditure inched down by 0.1 percent after recording 1.5 percent-growth in the first three months of the year as falling consumption of energy products offset the dynamism of food consumption, Insee added in its report.

Last month, French households spent much money in buying foods whose total purchases surged by 0.6 percent after being stable in May.

Besides, their consumption of textile and leather products gained momentum with 0.4 -percent rise in June against 0.1-percent decreased a month earlier.

Consumption of manufactured products accounts for 25 percent of the country's total consumption of processed goods and services while households expenditure represents the country's main growth engine. Endit
