Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday hailed the success of the bid for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by Beijing together with Zhangjiakou.

In a congratulation letter to the Beijing 2022 bid delegation, President Xi said, "All of you have made great efforts in the bid. I hope that with the support of all Chinese people, you keep on working hard to present a fantastic, extraordinary and excellent Winter Olympics."

Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, attended a celebration in the Olympic Park in Beijing on Friday evening.

Liu spoke highly of the success of the bid, and expressed thanks to all the people involved.

Liu said, "The 1.3 billion Chinese people embrace Olympic Movement again. This not only helps develop the winter sports in China, but also strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the Chinese people and the people from other countries and regions."

In his speech, Liu also invited all the friends around the world to come to Beijing to enjoy the Winter Olympic gala.

About 6,000 people are celebrating the success of the bid in the Olympic Park. Endi
